A Fragrance Inspired by Hungary’s Journey to Space
 
Hungarian space activities have a history spanning 75 years. It is in the strategic interest of Hungary to preserve and develop its competences in space science and technology. After more than four decades, Hungary is once again sending a person into orbit to carry out experiments for Hungarian universities, companies, and research institutes aboard the International Space Station.
 
To commemorate this historic return, the HUNOR (Hungarian to Orbit) program has partnered with Hungarykum, the niche perfume house, to create a unique fragrance: Hungarykum HUNOR Edition.
Crafted by perfumer Chris Kumi, the nose behind Hungarykum, this groundbreaking perfume draws inspiration from NASA’s astronaut training scents, reinterpreted to embody the emotional journey of astronauts—from the vast unknown of space to the grounding embrace of Earth.

The Opening: The Infinite Vastness of Space

Crisp aldehydes, metallic brightness, and ozonic freshness reflect the futuristic atmosphere of a spacecraft. These notes symbolize the awe-inspiring frontier of innovation and ambition as astronauts leave Earth’s atmosphere behind.

The Heart: A Touch of Home in the Cosmos

The scent of a “new car”, that is what you smell in the SpaceX Dragon spaceship. Hungarian lavender and soft suede unfold at the heart, offering comfort and grounding. These accords embody Hungary’s cultural heritage, reminding our travelers of home even as they soar through the cosmos.

The Base: The Return to Earth

A warm foundation of cedar and woody notes completes the fragrance, representing Earth’s reassuring gravity. This final chapter celebrates the triumph of human exploration and the timeless bond with our home planet.
